It’s no secret that we at Language Preschools love books.

Books basically defined my childhood. I was an early reader and an avid reader.

And although our first child wasn’t crazy about books until around three years old, we didn’t give up with him. Now, at three and a half, he asks for books every night before bed, and often he wants us to read the same one multiple times in a row. There’s only so much of the same book we parents can handle, but the experts say that reading the same book over and over is actually good for kids. Who are we to argue with that?

Even though Spanish isn’t our target language, we try our best to expose our son to a variety of languages and cultures. Lately, we’ve been on the hunt for easy Spanish books we can read aloud as a family.

The Lil’Libros collection caught our eye recently and has been our go-to resource for easy Spanish books ever since.

You can find Lil’Libros at a variety of retailers, but our favorite place to get them (besides the public library which is always a good option) is Amazon. There they sell for an affordable $6 to $8 each. We’re Amazon Prime members, and these books are Amazon Prime products, so we get free two-day shipping. If we’re not in a hurry, we get free no-rush shipping (the book will arrive in about a week) plus a $5 voucher for Prime Now, the even faster order-to-delivery service.

But back to the books…

The Lil’Libros collection is known for being bright, bold and colorful. Filled with beautiful illustrations, they’re designed for the baby stage to toddlerhood and beyond! Many mamas and papas buy them just for themselves. This is particularly true for collectors of all things Selena or Frida or any of the other featured historical figures.

Because these books are bilingual in English and Spanish, they’re also great gifts for those families who aren’t necessarily doing the whole “raising kids bilingual” thing. It’s a subtle and non-aggressive way of to introduce them to the possibility of bringing up bilingual babies.

Coming soon but available for pre-order now: two more easy Spanish books by Lil’Libros!

Lil’Libros is more than easy Spanish books. There’s also a game.

The game is called Lil’ Loteria: A Lil’ Libros Bilingual Bingo Game, and the point is to be the first to shout “Loteria!” With a 4.9-star rating based on 36 customer reviews currently on Amazon, this Bingo-with-a-twist game is loved by many families.

Who are the creators behind Lil’Libros?

At Language Preschools, we’re always interested in the story behind the products or resources we recommend. Naturally, this POPSUGAR article, “These 2 Moms Are Helping Bilingual Families Everywhere With Their Children’s Books,” by Natalie Rivera intrigued us. The two moms are Patty Rodriguez and Ariana Stein, two first generation Latinas. These mom bosses saw a gap in children’s books–little to no bilingual books–so they decided to change that.

The best part of the story is that after a publisher turned down their idea, they launched the books independently. Now the books are everywhere! The Selena book reached the top Amazon’s Hot New Releases list at one point, and today, it’s still the #1 ranked book for three children’s book categories on Amazon. Talk about making an impact!

It’s time to get your own easy Spanish books!

Lil’Libros, of course, isn’t the only Spanish and English bilingual children’s book company out there. But they’re really hot right now, and if you just look at their beautiful book covers, you can see why.

So what are you waiting for? Head over to Amazon and check them out. You and your kids won’t be disappointed!
